Pont d’Avignon fieldwork

Had a very productive 10 days in Provence working with CEREGE/CNRS on investigating old channels of the Rhone River at Avignon.

A robust and integrated mix of geophysics, geotech and some portable OSL profiling; the results from the investigation are already very interesting.

Aimed at examining the geomorphological development of the river, its history, archaeology and environmental history, a great example of geoarchaeology in practice.
